A conference called “Strengthening Economic and Institutional Co-operation between the County of Šibenik-Knin and West Herzegovina in the Area of Metals and Plastics” was held today in Šibenik.
This is a continuation of the excellent partnerships between Posusje Municipality, the local economy and educational institutions, and HERAG and the ŠKŽ Development Agency through the Compete Plamet project.
It gave the Municipality of Posusje an example of how a healthy economy is achieved through such cooperation. This project also opened up opportunities for further inter-county cooperation.
The meeting, alongside hosts from County of Šibenik-Knin and ŠKŽ Development Agency, was attended by representatives of the Municipality of Posušje, HERAG, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, educational institutions, and businessmen.
One of the topics of the meeting was the presentation of the metal and plastic sector and other economic – investment potentials of counties, cities and municipalities.
On this topic, the President of the Municipal Council and the member of the Management Board of the Technology Park Foundation Ivan Lončar said that by the decision of the Municipal Council from February 2018, and by introducing the profession of CNC operator, the Compete Plamet project received support from the aspect of secondary education.
“Although our legislation does not have a classic, world-approved dual education system, which is a kind of global trend, we have made a step forward and joined that positive trend, which, in addition to introducing the practice, involves cooperation with companies, so that students completing it already were ready for the job market, “Loncar said.
To this end, Posusje Municipality and HERAG established the Posusje Technology Park Foundation last year, whose importance is reflected in the adequate training of students on the machines procured from the project. During his address, Lončar emphasized the excellent cooperation with the Posusje businessmen, who were very helpful in the implementation of the project.
Pero Loncar, owner of Loncarplast, and a member of the Management Board of the Technology Park Foundation spoke about the positive experiences of the Compete Plamet project as well as successful economic topics in front of the businessmen and representatives of the dominant metal and plastic sector.
The County of West Herzegovina participates in the conference, as we stated. In front of the Ministry of Economy, Ante Begić spoke about the potential, who said on this occasion: “One of the potential sectors for investment and cooperation is certainly the plastic and metal sector, since its share in the structure of legal entities is high. And we must not neglect this, but we need to upgrade and encourage, that is, invest in production plants with environmentally friendly production in the manufacturing sectors, which create added value. The sector of metals and metals has been growing in recent years. And as far as production and exports are concerned.” He stated that there are 14 companies operating in the ZHZ with a total of nearly 1300 employees. Speaking about the workforce, he added: “Many of them are forced to train workers before they are hired because the education system in BiH is generally not adapted to the needs of the labor market.”… Thanks to cross-border cooperation, the Posusje Technology Park was opened in state-of-the-art CNC machines for metal and plastic processing due to the training of our high school staff who decide to provide adequate training in this type of profession.”, Begić concluded.
