COOPERATION WITH SCHOOLS FOR NEW SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS

17. 12. 2018

Ivan Mazuranic Elementary School has been equipped with a classroom that will now function as an IT cabinet. Namely, with the engagement of the headmaster Mr. Širić, funds were raised for the formation of this cabinet, in which as many as 28 computers were installed so that each student in the computer science class independently monitors the classes. The computers are networked and the teacher monitors and supervises students’ work at all times. It is the Municipality of Posušje that has financially supported the equipping and networking of the cabinet so that the students of the largest school in Bosnia and Herzegovina have the necessary conditions for acquiring knowledge and skills in informatics, which today is justified as the most promising technological branch.

The commissioning of the IT cabinet was the occasion of the visit of the Mayor Bago, where the Headmaster introduced him to the work, thanked him for his support and cooperation so far, but also pointed out the new needs the school has. As it is the largest school in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in terms of number of students, a school that works two shifts every 12 hours a day, the needs of the principal and the entire staff are also great. “However, through the joint efforts and innovation of all of us in the system, we are looking for opportunities for additional sources of funding for the further development of all schools in our municipality, because unfortunately the development capacities of the municipal budget are modest and do not leave us many opportunities,” Bago said.

Therefore, through its Office of Development, the Municipality is at the disposal of all our schools, institutions and individuals as a generator and support in applying for calls for various grants and other resources, and also applies and implements several development projects. Confirmation of our plans even today came from the Central State Office for Reconstruction and Housing of the Republic of Croatia, who positively evaluated our application so that the project of reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Čitluk Regional School received financial support from this state office. Otherwise, this regional school requires urgent work, both on the renovation of the existing space and on the extension, because like other schools in the Posusje region, there is an increased number of students in this school year. As many as 54 pupils attend the School in Citluk in two shifts, therefore, in cooperation with the municipal administration and the school administration, a project of reconstruction of a total value of KM 250,000.00 was made and efforts are being made to find the funds to start its implementation in 2019. Today’s visit was also used to visit the works on the school playground of the Brocanac area school, where the first phase of works was completed, retaining walls were made, and the playground was rebuilt and the rear ground floor of the school remained.

Priority activities are also being implemented in other schools, so that the primary school in Vir is adapted to the disability. The primary school in Rakitno is planning to renovate the school yard to the entrance to the school, while the legal procedure regarding the purchase of land for the hall is being finalized at the Vranic elementary school in order to start procurement and works on it as soon as possible.
